FootHills Milling Co- Maryville, Tennesse

You all come back now,,, ya hear! is what the patrons at Foothills milling company will tell you as you walk out. If you are visiting Tennessee or are here on business, here is a fantastic spot for a meal.  A family own restaurant that offers good dining and classic rustic feel in the heartland... ok not really in the heartland but they make you feel like you are at home.

I have to warn you though, pictures weren't possible on this food tasting adventure. But was the food good, let me tell you. You walk into this red painted 1 story building off of a side road you don't really know where you are going. There are no big signs, no neon pointing spotlights, just a non-descript red bright building. Open the door and you are literally taking a step back to inhale all the sweet bbq meat smells. The paplov response is initiated... the host taking the cue, swings you into the dining room setting... low lit candle light, dim atmosphere but classic civil war era pieces adorn the walls.

A look at the menu had my eyebrow raised, only because I wanted to try just about everything. For the appetizers, they had fried Green Tomatoes: tomato pepper chutney, basil aioli and goat cheese. Fried Oysters were also available: Fresh gulf oysters fried and served on sour dough toast topped with green onion remoulade, Benton’s bacon,  and celery. You will have to take a side of lipitor with every meal.

The spinach salad was delicious. Baby spinach wrapped in a warm Bacon Dijon Dressing made with goat cheese, onion and roasted tomatoes, sprinkled with crispy black eyed peas. But the piece of resistance, was the pork loin. All juicy meat loin. All natural pork loin chop grilled and topped with wild mushrooms and truffle fonduta, served with mashed root vegetables and baby green beans. Meat lovers, beware.. it taste real out here in this neck of the woods! Beautiful presentation.
